Why it matters

In today’s digital-first world, we are witnessing a worrying rise in new technologies being used to cause harm – particularly to cause sexual harm. This poses serious threats to the safety and wellbeing of people everywhere, with women and girls disproportionately affected.

From online sexual harassment to AI-generated sexual images, the digital revolution has created new avenues for gender-based and sexual abuse. At the same time, it has made it more urgent than ever to raise awareness and learn how to respond.

About the webinar

We have created an impactful 2 hour workshop designed to help you understand online and technology facilitated sexual abuse, the history, culture and laws around it, and how to prevent it and respond to it. Through expert insights, meaningful discussions, real-life case examples and an interactive quiz and activities, you’ll learn how to identify, respond and support.

No one should feel fearful when online. Digital spaces should be safe spaces for everyone.

Our special guest – Emily Johnstone

For this session, we’re thrilled to be joined by technology-facilitated abuse expert and doctoral researcher at the University of Bath, Emily Johnstone.

Emily’s current work highlights how human psychology and behaviour can interact with things like smart home devices, to exacerbate patterns of coercive control, sexual violence, and other forms of abuse.

During the session, she will be sharing the latest insights on the harms that can be caused by this form of abuse and how we can create safer digital futures.
