We Hear You – A SARSAS short film, listening, believing and supporting survivors of sexual violence
Watch ‘We Hear You – a short SARSAS film and a testament to the power of listening, believing and supporting survivors.
Why we made We Hear You
Earlier this year, we were honoured to be chosen as one of just ten charities in the Big Picture Charity Films 2025 Free Film Giveaway.
The Big Picture team creates short films that shine a light on the incredible work of charities across the UK; helping them tell their stories and reach more people who might need their support. To be selected was the perfect opportunity for us to show what is at the heart everything we do at SARSAS – to listen, to believe, and to stand beside survivors of sexual violence and abuse.
Who is in the film?
We’re grateful to Big Picture for crafting such a powerful and sensitive film, and to Sarah and Susannah for bravely sharing their stories. Their courage and honesty reminds us why this work matters so much and will resonate with so many other survivors.
We also want to thank our Patron, Laura Bates, for taking part in the film and for her tireless campaigning for an end to gender-based violence. Her voice, alongside those of survivors and the SARSAS team, brings our message to life: you are not alone, and you deserve to be heard.
Our film, We Hear You, captures what happens when someone takes that first step to reach out for support and what it means to be met with compassion, understanding, and belief. It’s a reflection of every phone call, every support or counselling session, and every person who has reached out to begin a journey toward healing.
Importantly, the film sends a message for all survivors, including those who may never have had support, who may never have told anyone, who may have felt that no one would ever believe them. A message of hope, that there are people who understand you, who will listen to you and who will believe you.
How you can help
If you’re moved by what you see, please consider supporting us to continue to deliver our life-saving work, whether through a donation, sharing the film, or simply spreading the word about the support available. You can help us work towards a world without sexual violence.

Celebrating impact: our 2024 – 2025 report
We’re proud to share our Impact Report for 2024-2025; a reflection of the resilience, courage, and hope that defines SARSAS and the people we support.

Ending sexual violence without fueling hate
At SARSAS, we know that violence against women and girls (VAWG) is rooted in misogyny, inequality, power and control. It is not about immigration. That’s why we have joined over 100 women’s rights organisations in signing a joint letter with the End Violence Against Women Coalition (EVAW), against the weaponisation of VAWG.
