Sexual harassment in hospitality – free webinar

On 26th October 2024, a new law was introduced meaning that there is now a duty on employers to prevent sexual harassment in their workplace.
This is a significant step in creating safe and inclusive workplaces for everyone, but how prepared are you feeling?
On 26th October 2024, a new law was introduced in Great Britain (England, Wales, and Scotland) – called the Worker Protection Act (Amendment of Equality Act 2010) 2023. This now puts an obligation on employers to take ‘reasonable steps’ to prevent their staff from being sexually harassed in the course of their employment.
In the fast-paced Food & Beverage (F&B) sector, where young, part-time staff are constantly interacting with the public, often in lively, alcohol-filled environments, the risk of harassment is all too real.
Just consider these stats:
– 52% of women (aged 18-34) have experienced harassment at work*
– 21% who reported experiencing workplace harassment chose to look for a new job**
When harassment occurs, it’s heartbreaking to see employees feeling unheard and alone. Witnesses may feel lost and unsure of how to step in and help. Yet, without the right precautions in place, your team could find themselves navigating these difficult situations.
Acting now isn’t just about ticking boxes for legal compliance; it’s about creating a workplace culture built on respect and safety.
