SARSAS Trans* policy 2017-07-24T10:42:06+00:00

It is SARSAS’s aim to create an inclusive service where no service users are subject to discrimination or victimisation as a result of their gender identity.

We strive to value diversity and equality, including all the protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2000. This includes recognising and supporting a person’s self-identified gender.

We will offer a service to all those who identify as a woman. If you identify as a man, you can access the Men and Boys Helpline and email support. In some areas, other services are available for men and boys. Go to the Survivor Pathway website for further details.

SARSAS recognises that some Service Users may not self-define as a either a man or a woman.  Our services are open to those who identify as non-binary, intersex, and gender fluid. However, SARSAS maintain women only spaces for some of our services as part of a trauma informed approach which recognises gender-based violence. If you are unsure which service to access, we encourage you to contact us to discuss your individual needs.

Confidentiality about your gender identity will be maintained in the same way as all other Service Users in line with our Confidentiality Policy and Data Protection legislation. Your gender identity will not be passed on internally unless you ask us to.

In line with SARSAS’ Safeguarding Policies for children and adults in need of care and support, we will only share any SARSAS Service User’s information with any external organisation where there is risk of harm to an adult in need of care and support or child, by self or others.
